First thing to understand is that stress IS healthy, chronic stress is NOT. Stress is a normal part of life and something we cannot avoid.

 

There are 3 main stressors we can experience:

  1. Emotional: Family, friends, relationships, jobs, finance, and grief.

  2. Physical: Accidents, falls, injuries, medical treatments/procedures.

  3. Chemical: Bacteria, Viruses, food intolerances, allergies, and toxins.

 

BUT when we stay in a perpetual state of chronic stress, after long term exposure to ANY of these stressors without proper rest (not just scrolling on our phones or watching TV), it takes a massive toll on our poor minds and bodies.

 

I can teach you how to truly rest (switch off stress) AND to have a healthy nervous system that can comfortably adapt no matter what life throws at you and allow you to easily manage your health. It’s NOT all about staying perfectly calm, it’s about learning to live life with all its ups and downs, but not allowing stress to take over. And yes, that is possible!

Before your first session: FREE consultation.

At the FREE consultation (either on zoom or the phone), we will discuss YOUR individual needs, and ensure I can meet your desired outcomes, and goals. I will then answer any questions you have about the process and how it all works.

 

Then we will discuss a range of suitable therapies that we can use in your sessions. These are all optional and everything is modified to your abilities so that each session is completely bespoke. This is not a cookie cutter programme. The therapies range from guided exercises to soothe your overwrought nervous system (these can be physical or mental), neurobiology tools, vagus nerve exercises, breathing techniques, mindset coaching, meditation, yoga, massage, reflexology, sound bath, and aromatherapy.

 

All the tools offered will allow your body to truly rest, switch off chronic stress & pain, are extremely relaxing and create a healthy and adaptable nervous system.

Everything is completely backed by science and 15 years of personal study, experience, & research.

 

If after this free consultation, you decide to book an appointment either in-person or online, you will be sent an email detailing your desired outcomes and goals, agreed tools for the session and date, time, price how to pay, what to wear, and location or zoom link etc for your first session.

 

Your first session

Unless you have changed your mind, we will follow the session as agreed in the consultation. The session will be deeply relaxing, mainly lying down, and there will be time to answer any questions that may come up, at the end.

If in-person time to stay afterwards for tea and biscuits.

 

If you join the 7 session programme

The first session will give you a profound understanding of the messages from your body and how you’ve been affected by stress. But the main focus will be getting you to switch off chronic stress/pain so that your body can begin to truly rest and heal. Each week will continue on from the previous week, building your progress steadily and with regular check ins on your initial goals, you can easily map your progress and ensure you are on the right track. Most clients achieve their goals faster than expected and usually add new ones as we go. The programme is completely bespoke and adapted for YOU, there is no cookie cutter approach. Also, sessions can be adapted if something comes up during the course of the programme that you need help with, even if it strays from your initial goals.

 

After each session (Whether you do 1 or 7)

You will be emailed some notes for your interest of what we covered in the session along with homework. This will consist of 5 minutes (max) of tools and exercises to support your nervous system and are to be completed daily. These will support the work we do in the sessions and guarantee the best results. I will also be available to answer, any queries or concerns via email or text.

Review: 7x 1 Hour switch off stress programme. 
I received an e-mail from Fi about the Switch Off Stress sessions and I was intrigued by the potential benefits that these could bring. I would be lying if I said I wasn't slightly skeptical, but thought I would give it a go with an open mind. After deciding to go for the 7 x one-hour sessions, I couldn't have anticipated how much better things were after these were completed. Prior to starting the sessions, it would be fair to say that I didn't really understand how using the tools provided during the sessions could be of great benefit in the bigger picture. I was stressed from work, lacking a bit of focus unless I was really pushed and not getting the best quality of sleep but those were just the issues I really noticed and because I was still achieving highly at work as well as being what I thought was generally happy, I didn't give them much thought and treated them as being "the way that it is". 

 

Going through the sessions though, I learnt that using these tools provides massive benefits throughout all aspects of life. My sleep improved massively, my focus improved greatly and I was able to deal with the stresses of everyday life in a manner that they became fleeting rather than constant. We will all deal with stress every day and that will never change, but where they used to linger on throughout the day and became particularly prevalent at night (when my mind would try to sort out all the issues of the world), they were now totally manageable. You do have to work at it but the exercises are nothing taxing nor time consuming and honestly, the benefits for me personally have been amazing. Being able to recognise and feel actual happiness, even in the broadest of terms, was a new one for me and as you can imagine, it is a good feeling. 

 

If you approach this with an open mind, follow the techniques / exercises and most importantly, be honest with yourself during it all, the potential benefits to your overall well being cannot be understated. 

 

As an added bonus, I had been having long term random muscle weakness in the forearms which was causing issues even pulling on socks. It is intermittent and I have had MRI's, CT scans and all sorts to try and figure it out, but no luck in sorting the issue. I mentioned this to Fi as an offshoot during one of our conversations, and she showed me a stretch on my neck to help and I could instantly feel my grip strength improve massively. It was crazy to me that this helped so much and whenever I have that issue appear again, a couple of quick stretches and I am sorted.

Review: 1 Hour switch off stress session
I had trauma to my vagus nerve in my neck, causing constant pain for 8 months. My 1-1 session with Fi,  she taught me breathing and massage techniques, as well as stretching. How to change my mindset, humming and repeating “I am safe.”
My pain was high at the start of the session but left with nearly no pain at all. Although at times I still get stabbing pain. I now know how to manage this and have been nearly pain-free for one month and not needed to take my prescription painkillers. I would highly recommend Fi.

Review: When I first came to Fi, I had hit rock bottom. I wasn’t sleeping great, always had headaches and stomach pains, didn’t like socialising, always felt overwhelmed and unappreciated. Saw GP, who dismissed me and said I was a bit stressed and needed a holiday. I didn’t think I had any reason to be stressed as I have a great job, husband is wonderful, and our kids are thriving in uni. A colleague recommended Fi and right away she validated how I was feeling. It was such a relief as I honestly thought I was going mad.

I booked 3 online sessions and decided to give it a go. First session she gently helped me identify “triggers” in my life that were causing stress. This was eye opening as I had never thought about these before. We did some relaxing exercises (no clue what they were!) and for the first time in almost 2 years I felt so relaxed and like I could think again. She gave me some homework of mindsets to do for 2 minutes a day. I didn’t think they would really do anything, but I was wrong!

Second session she helped me identify why I felt so unappreciated and helped me put in healthy boundaries with loved ones and not always put myself second! By the third session I was sleeping again, could think clearly and had the girls over for wine night like the old times (still fun in your 50’s!) I still have no clue how she did it! But she gave me my life back. Cannot recommend her enough!

After 3 sessions with Fi doing her (can’t remember what the sessions were called!) 😂. I had learnt to meditate without realising it, and this  made me feel

Empowered, to take control of my mindset, listening to my body as a whole.  I always found that doing daily exercises was a chore, as I didn’t feel I had half hour or an hour free (although would quite easily spend that amount of time doom scrolling) Fi taught me simple exercises which were tailored to my needs, and best bit of all, the take minutes to do, whether I’m sitting watching tv or lying in bed!

 I also learnt that stretches are like medicine for my body. I wouldn’t think twice about taking paracetamol for a headache but would procrastinate over doing stretches.  Changing my mindset has made them much more enjoyable!

Review

I wasn’t expecting this. I have been to my GP and a bunch of specialists for over a year trying to figure out why I lost my grip. I went from lifting weights in the gym to not being able to put my socks on. They ruled out all the scary things- but no closer to an answer. My wife recommended Fi, but I wasn’t sure what she could do that the specialists couldn’t. She listened to me, then asked if she could check my neck?? She gently prodded a bit and then asked if she could show me a stretch. I humoured her and did it and to my surprise my grip was a lot stronger. In one session I got my grip back and can’t wait to go back to the gym!

Do I have to tell you WHY I am stressed etc?

No. I am here to support you in whatever capacity you need. If you feel like sharing those details, I am honoured to be entrusted but you also don’t have to. I need to know what symptoms you have, their regularity and their impact on your day-to-day life only. It is entirely up to you if you choose to share other details.


Will it work if I'm not stressed or worried?
Yes! Stress is not just emotional. In fact, emotions are only one of the 3 main causes of stress. Your body can be stressed from pain, illness, injury, sleep issues, allergies, food intolerances or even medical treatments such as surgery. And long-term exposure to ANY stressor leads to chronic stress. My job is to help you regulate your nervous system in the most relaxing way possible to ensure you can easily manage life with all its ups & downs and not get overwhelmed. And yes that is possible!


I have no interest in how my body works. Will the programme still work for me?
Yes! I will only tell you as much information as you request. The programme involves me training your nervous system in the most relaxing way possible, you won’t even realise what I’m doing, and all you have to do is five minutes a day of the tools taught in the session. If you don’t want to know how it works, that’s no problem, you don’t need to. I’ve done the years of study and research, so you don’t have to. But I’m happy to answer any questions you ask. Truthfully, most people get curious.
 
What do I have to do in the five minutes of homework a day?
This varies person to person and is often less than 5 minutes. Example: If you have come to me for back pain- it might involve doing 2 simple 30 second stretches a day. If you have come to me for sleep issues- it might involve a breathing and mindset exercise before bed. If you have come to me for burnout- it might involve a vagus nerve exercise that could include a small stretch and some gentle movement. The homework reinforces what we do in the session and guarantees the best results.  Everything is adjusted for your needs, abilities and desired goals and is designed to easily fit into your routine. It’s a small dedication, with a HUGE payoff.
 
When will I notice a difference?
You will likely leave the first session very relaxed but after doing the homework for a few weeks is when the big changes happen. Most people see a significant difference after 2-3 sessions. Some people only need 1 session and some need more and some prefer ongoing support. I will discuss that with you during the FREE consultation to ensure your expectations are realistic and accurate.

 

What if it doesn’t work for me?
This is a valid concern. Its why I offer the FREE consultation, either online or on the phone. In it we discuss your desired goals and individual needs. From this I can easily assess if the programme will work for you, and you can see if you like me as a therapist. This is also very important, because if you don’t like me, it will never work. Don’t worry I won’t be offended if you don’t. I’ve been in this industry for almost 14 years and have helped thousands of clients in my time. If I know I can’t help, I will always be honest, as I will never risk my pristine reputation for a quick sale. Also, anything said in the consultation is 100% confidential, even if you decide not to book.
 
Is it my fault I am overwhelmed? Could I have prevented this?
No! This question breaks my heart. So many clients ask me if it’s their fault or if they should have done something differently. Suffering from pain, stress, or sleep issues, is NEVER your fault. But as these are invisible illnesses most people feel alone and unseen as they struggle through them. I am here to help you on this journey, you don’t have to go through this alone and help is available.
